Tribute To Fidel Castro And Hugo Chávez In Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO.—The presidents of Cuba and Venezuela, Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, were both credited with the title of "indispensable" by the Brazilian weekly Inverta, during celebrations for its 14th anniversary, PL reports.

The decorations, consisting of plaques with the presidents’ names and a reproduction of the front page of the first edition of the paper, were received by Alejandro Díaz, minister counselor at the Cuban embassy, and Asunta Paolini, the Venezuelan consul in Rio de Janeiro.

The award, likewise presented to the Granma International weekly, distributed throughout Brazil by Inverta in Portuguese, is inspired by the poem by German dramatist Bertolt Brecht who describes as "indispensable" those who fight throughout their whole lives, Aluisio Bevilaqua, editor of the publication, explained.
